Nice guy Steve writes a warm, friendly and often funny story about a loving couple and their adventures aboard their yacht "Eirene," as they travel throughout the Mediterranean. For adventures these stories are, Steve, his wife Pam and Eirene travel to all the well-known places in the Med and many of the less known and more challenging ones.These two¬¬ Americans are not afraid to go out and mix it with the locals, they go happily to remote locations by all forms of transport, from yacht to camel and more. Steve mixes lessons in history and geography, with diverse culinary and cultural lessons learnt along the way.
Over the bar is a must read book for those dreaming of leaving life in the States or wherever behind, and just doing it. If ever the reader stops being a dreamer and does go out and do it for themselves, Over the Bar will become an essential reference tool. A tool or guide, that any cruising sailor would do very well to follow. I know I plan to follow Eirene's wake one day.
