When I first discovered Robyn Carr it was the Virgin River Series - I read them one by one until I had finished all of them. I then e-mailed the author to find out if Virgin River was a real place as I thought that one day, if I won the lottery or something, I would like to live there. Sadly Virgin River is only in her imagination. However, now that I have finished the fourth in the Thunder Point series, I have decided that I could easily divide my time between Thunder Point and Virgin River. I am in love with the characters and consider them all my friends. The Chance tells the story of Laine and Eric, who appeared briefly in the previous book, and also introduces Al Michel, who forms a relationship with the larger than life Ray-Ann, who we met in all three of the previous Thunder Point books. Cannot wait for the next book.

ROBYN CARR CONTINUES TO AMAZE ME. I HAVE READ ALL OF HER BOOKS INCLUDING THE VIRGIN RIVER SERIES(ANOTHER GREAT SERIES) " THE CHANCE" IS HER 4TH BOOK IN THE THUNDER POINT SERIES. I LOVE THIS BOOK. IT NOT ONLY GETS INTO THE PREVIOUS CHARACTERS IN BOOK1-3 BUT ADDS ANOTHER ONE(FBI AGENT). IT IS REALLY INTERESTING TO DISCOVER THE WAYS SHE GETS HER CHARACTERS TO MESH WITH ONE ANOTHER. I ALWAYS HAVE A HARD TIME PUTTING THE BOOK AWAY AFTER EACH READING. CAN'T WAIT FOR BOOK 5 AND 6.
I love Robyn Carr's books and have read them all, from The House on Olive Street to this latest in the Thunder Point, Oregon series. I've loved them all.

Carr has a real knack for writing about small town life and the very real seeming people that live in those small towns.

"The Chance" brings Laine Carrington, wounded FBI agent, together with Eric Gentry, owner of the local full-service gas station. She's law enforcement and he's had a darker past but they are attracted to each other immediately. Also there is the story of Al, that comes back to work for Eric and Ray Anne, local real estate agent. And there is the side story of Justin and his brothers, who need help and guidance.

Grown-up love and love affairs are a specialty of Carr's. Her protagonists seem like old friends, people we've grown up with and might run into at the grocery store. But the passion is sizzling and deep and noteworthy.

We catch up on other Thunder Point residents but get an in-depth look at the New romances.

I still like the Virgin River series the best but this one is growing on me. Also coming relatively soon are the next two books in the Thunder Point series - The Promise and The Homecoming.
As always, Robyn has written another great book. I have read all of Robyn's books and have never been disappointed. Can't wait for the next Thunder Point novel. In "The Chance", Laine, an FBI agent goes to Thunder Point to recover from a gunshot wound and meets ex-con Eric. Laine comes from a family of physicians and her choice of careers is not accepted by her father and her relationship with Eric is another trouble spot. I am always disappointed when I read the last page of her books. I hate to see them end.
I love Robyn Carr. Her stories are heartwarming reads with realistic characters, struggling with everyday problems. She creates communities that are literary snapshots of "it takes a village". She addresses relevant issues, without being preachy. All in all, after finishing one of her books I'm left with a warm, fuzzy feeling, that makes me want to be a better neighbor and friend. This wasn't my favorite of hers, but a good, solid read. Although the Virgin River series holds a special place in my heart, I'm totally enjoying the Thunder Point series too. Keep them coming!
The knowledge of the subjects and interaction of the characters made you not want to put this book down. I have read most of Robyn Carr's books and I always live rereading them.
I've had a difficult time coming off my Virgin River high. I have read the previous Thunder Point books but just couldn't get into them. They seemed to go very slow and I had trouble trying to get the new characters in my mind-until now. I loved Laine and Eric as a couple. I enjoyed their quick get together and the discovery of each other. Robyn Carr has always done a great job with her secondary storylines and the one of experiencing a parent's Alzheimer's was truthful and informative. Also, I enjoyed the story of the three boys trying to survive staying together after their mother's illness causes her to be placed in special care. Emotional and heartwarming, it's must read!!
Book four in the Thunder Point series, a sweet romance- but many more stories going on at the same time. Soap opera in a series.
